Journey to the "Capital of Fjord Norway"
Your adventure continues on day 2 after enjoying breakfast at your hotel in Oslo. Prepare for a breathtaking ride on the Bergen Line, renowned for its stunning vistas and engineering marvels. As the train departs, you'll soon find yourself winding through the beautiful Hallingdal valley, where lush landscapes and small villages provide a captivating backdrop. The journey then takes you across the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, Europe's largest high mountain plateau, offering awe-inspiring views of pristine nature. Keep your camera ready, especially as you approach Finse, the highest station on the line at 1222 meters above sea level.
Upon your arrival in Bergen, you'll be greeted by its charming setting created by the surrounding seven mountains. On Day 4 of your journey, you transition from Bergen to the enchanting village of Flåm. The day begins with a local train ride from Bergen to Voss. Upon arrival in Voss, a connecting coach is ready to escort you through the scenic mountain landscapes to the Gudvangen valley, offering you a front-row seat to the breathtaking Nærøy canyon's vistas.
The highlight of the day is undoubtedly the fjord cruise from Gudvangen, which takes you on a journey through the inner branches of the Sognefjord. On the journey through the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, flanked by steep mountainsides, you might glimpse old farms clinging to the cliffs above. As the cruise continues, you'll enter the majestic Aurlandsfjord where the landscape opens up.
