Bergen at your own pace

Your full day in Bergen is yours to shape. The UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf features rows of colorful wooden buildings that once housed medieval merchants trading across the North Sea. Walk through the narrow alleyways between them to discover small shops and galleries.

The Fløibanen funicular departs every few minutes from the city center, climbing Mount Fløyen in about eight minutes. From the top, views extend across Bergen's harbor, surrounding islands, and the mountains that frame the city.

Consider adding optional experiences available during checkout. The three-hour Mostraumen fjord cruise ventures into narrow waterways and past waterfalls north of the city. Or reserve dinner at Cornelius Seafood Restaurant – located on a small island outside Bergen and accessible only by boat, ranking among Norway's finest for seafood.

Flying to Ålesund - The Art Nouveau town

After breakfast, a short flight takes you north to Ålesund. Following a devastating fire in 1904, the city rebuilt entirely in Art Nouveau style, creating one of Northern Europe's most distinctive architectural ensembles.

Check into your hotel and spend the afternoon exploring. Mount Aksla offers panoramic views across the city and surrounding islands – reached by 418 steps or by car. The distinctive architecture features elaborate facades with decorative elements inspired by medieval Norse designs and natural forms.

The Brosundet canal cuts through the city center, lined with converted warehouses now housing restaurants and shops. Ålesund's compact size makes it ideal for walking, with most attractions easily reached on foot from your hotel.

Geirangerfjord UNESCO cruise - Nature's greatest hits

Board your morning cruise from Ålesund to the Geirangerfjord aboard a brand-new electric boat. The vessel's silent propulsion allows you to hear the waterfalls and appreciate the dramatic scenery without engine noise.

The cruise takes you deep into one of Norway's most celebrated fjords. The Seven Sisters waterfall cascades 250 meters down the mountainside in seven distinct streams, while across the fjord, The Suitor waterfall answers with its own dramatic descent. Abandoned mountain farms cling to impossibly steep cliffsides – testimony to generations of farmers who worked this challenging landscape.

The boat stops in Geiranger village for approximately 2.5 hours, giving you time to explore or simply absorb the setting. The return journey offers different perspectives as afternoon light transforms the fjord. Journey from Ålesund to Oslo via Rauma Railway

A private transfer takes you from Ålesund through fjord country to Åndalsnes, where you board the Rauma Railway for one of Norway's most dramatic train journeys. The line follows the Rauma River through increasingly narrow valleys, with mountains rising steeply on both sides.

The train passes directly beneath Trollveggen – the Troll Wall – Europe's tallest vertical rock face at 1,100 meters. The sheer granite cliff towers above the tracks, its face so steep that climbers from around the world come to test themselves against it. The route crosses the historic Kylling Bridge, suspended 59 meters above the river.

At Dombås, transfer to the Dovre Line for the journey across the Gudbrandsdal valley to Oslo. The train descends through changing landscapes – from high mountain terrain to forested valleys to the gentle farmland surrounding the capital. Arrive in Oslo by evening and check into your centrally located hotel.
